Heartbreak, a necklace by Tjep.

“If the cinema industry has taught us a lesson since its appearance is that relationships don’t always last and one is inevitably bound to get a broken heart.
Yet the vast majority of jewelry that celebrates the concept of love never reveals the fragility of romantic relationships.
The Heartbreak consists of a fragile porcelain heart and light yet strong titanium hammer, booth are connected and made inseparable by a titanium chain.
When broken the heart will show cracks, yet it will never fall apart as there is a layer of rubber on the inside that will keep the heart together. Indeed as one will usually recover from a broken heart, the small cracks will inevitably add up and form who we are.”
Hold on Tight Shelf by Colleen Whiteley
A brilliant idea for a book shelf. Bookends, who needs them?
Whilst fooling around on Behance, as one does when they are procrastinating, I came across this new incredible product design concept; The Next Generation Table Tennis Table,
“Waldner” – the next generation ping pong table, is made with an advanced computer system integration. The table has a multi-touch surface, which responds to human touch and real world objects, like ping-pong balls. The table is also equipped with “Siri” voice recognition that monitors the game along with a Mac Pro 12-core computer. That means the table is very intelligent; it sees, feels and hears the game. You can even discuss a ball with it to improve your ping pong skills or argue about a point.

A ‘how to’ on making Fresh Guacamole.
Suprisingly different, clever and giggle worthy. This seemless video animation is definetely worth a watch. The sound effects match it perfectly.
This amazing article featured on The Cool Hunter was posted in September of last year. Aimed at Designer makers and especially those who specialise in timber, it can also and most definitely appreciated by everyone. It invites the reader to experience through the photo’s, the vast beauty and versatility of timber. It explores the diverse and eye-catching ways in which timber can be/and is incorporated in the contemporary world. With technology advancing, the physical limits of timber are being pushed and further more the aesthetics with it. Having first read this when it was first posted, I have continued to go back to it when seeking inspiration or to simply be ‘wow-ed’ again.

Zero Waste Table / Andrew Maynard Archiects
Design from an idea. Design from a process.
Do we get enough of it these days? After a clear process derived from Louis Khan’s thoughts on the material logic of the brick, we have an ingenious product that not only looks awesome, more importantly creates zero waste, is entirely flexible and can be reused completely. The question I ask is, why don’t we see this kind of clear idea and process used more often in design? The shit we create needs to do more than just look good.
